While federal law does not require 1099 independent contractors to take breaks during a shift, building policies may require breaks and lunches to be taken. It is strongly encouraged that you ask each facility what their policies are upon arrival for your shift to ensure that you get a break.
When a facility requires a break or lunch to be taken, they are instructed to add these details into the job instructions section of a job card. It is your responsibility to thoroughly read each job card, as well as, ask the facility regarding their policies upon arrival.
