Lesson 3: Adding Credentials

Now that you have your license uploaded and you're ready to request shifts, you'll want to ensure that your profile reflects your skills and experience by uploading your credentials. 

Facilities will have a different list of requirements for the shifts that they post, which will be displayed on the job card under "Screening List," so make sure to carefully read each job card before requesting the shift.

Pro Tip: Nursa shifts are not first come, first served, so adding credentials can increase your chances of being hired for shifts.

Essential Credentials & Essentials in My State

On your profile, you'll see a list of Essential Credentials. These are the most important credentials for you to provide and the ones that facilities will be looking for.

Below the Essential Credentials, you'll also see "Essentials in my State." These are state-specific requirements that facilities will be looking for, which vary state to state.

For any credentials that isn't listed in the Essentials, you can (and should!) still upload those to your profile. 

How to Upload Essential Credentials

  1. Tap the Menu in the top left corner
  2. Tap the Profile tab
  3. Tap the blue + Icon in the bottom right corner
  4. Scroll down to Essential Credentials and State Credentials
    • Note: If you are missing one of these credentials, you will see it grayed out and has a + Icon next to it
  5. Tap the + Icon
  6. Review the list of accepted file types
  7. Upload the document along with any relevant information

How to Upload Other Credentials

  1. Tap the Menu in the top left corner
  2. Tap the Profile tab
  3. Tap the blue + Icon in the bottom right corner
  4. Search for the credential name that you would like to add 
  5. Review the list of accepted file types
  6. Upload the document along with any relevant information

Pro Tip: Start by uploading your Essentials Credentials, but here's a list of basic credentials to get started:

  • Colored photo of state-issued Drivers License/ID
  • Active Healthcare License (CNA, RN, LPN/LVN, or Arizona CG)
  • BLS or CPR/First Aid
  • TB Test within 12 months
  • Background Check (varies by state) 
  • Specialties (Gero, HH, ACU, CPN, ICU, CHMO, CWON)

Do I have to have all of the listed credentials in the Screening List before requesting a job?

No. Once you’ve added a valid healthcare license, we recommend that you start requesting jobs even if you don’t currently have all of the credentials listed on the job card. The facility will review your credentials and decide whether or not to schedule you.

They may ask you to provide the missing credentials on their Screening List before you show up to work, or they may have flexibility in waving some of the requirements. That decision is always left in the facility's hands.

Although we provide certain state-specific credentials with Essentials in My State, you are encouraged to contact your state directly with specific questions.

Arizona

  • Fingerprint Clearance Card (For Background Check)
  • TB Test within 12 months

Colorado

  • CAPS (Child Adult Protective Services) - Nursa will pull this. 
  • Background Check - Clinician is responsible to pull this. Can be pulled here for $5. 
  • Proof of Covid Vaccination uploaded (this will be required by most facilities in CO to be hired for a shift)
  •  Drivers license

Florida

  • Background check Level 2
  • Drivers License (picture of the front)
  • Social Security Card
  • CPR/First Aid or BLS
  • TB test within last year
    • Can be either
    • Intradermal 
    • Blood test, specifically interferon gamma release assay (IGRA) 

Indiana

  • Drivers License (picture of the front)
  • Social Security Card
  • CPR/First Aid or BLS
  • TB Test
  • Background Check
    • Disqualifying events - IC 16-28-13-3

Idaho

  • Drivers License (picture of the front)
  • Social Security Card
  • CPR/First Aid or BLS
  • TB Test
  • Background Check
    • $65 - clinician pays - agency ID (13302)

Illinois

  • Drivers License (picture of the front)
  • Social Security Card
  • CPR/First Aid or BLS
  • TB Test
  • Background Check
  • Healthcare worker registry verification

Michigan

  • Drivers License (picture of the front)
  • Social Security Card
  • CPR/First Aid or BLS
  • TB Test
